To Pimp A Pakistan
I would be lying if I told you I've been following this conflict since the beginning.
What awaken me to this political conflict was 2023, when my phone started blowing up with mass destruction delivered by the atrocity of my own country.
"Fuck if I care."
I used to say...
But like most Americans I didn't truly care until it started affecting my life. Surprised and ashamed to say it but growing up as a African American with a taste for history; I almost forgot the most important quotes:
"What hurts the victim most is not the cruelty of the oppressor, but the silence of the bystander." - Elie Wiesel
"History doesn't repeat itself it often rhymes." - Mark Twain
World War II taught me this. Hitler and the persecution of Jews was complete genocide and the epitome of colonialism. My heart always teared and screamed when I saw the camps and lack of nutrition sketched in every black and white frame. Reflecting now, I noticed a shift in my education system when I got to high school. No longer did we have altruistic teachers with a sense of passion. Gym coaches seemed to be shaken, warning of the dangers within our society's.
No longer was the topic about Rome but the reflection of America. The topic of WWII was now a reflection for racism and discrimination.
Due to these insights I thought that America was a necessary evil and that we were the ultimate peacemaker. Nonetheless a part of me knew that was only a dream...
An American Dream.
The Trumpet, The Boar and The Robot
I can't stand the current news; (Hence the writing) To watch CNN, FOX-Hell! Even Instagram, has been the most draining experience in my whole life...
Trump, Epstein and even Elon Musk have been the freshest face to represent my American Nightmare. American Media has talked about Epstein so much I feel like I've been a victim of his. The corruption and lack of humanity constantly displayed on my screen is so concerning and absurd. The common theme among all of them is weirdly the most animalistic.
Their Hedonistic Lust
Alienation of American Citizens
Ungodly amount of Wealth
I would love to say they have made mistakes and are human; yet their roles in society doesn't excuse the amount of suffering that has been dealt to the American people.
Since 9/11 American mistrust has been the topic of everyone daily social life. From people paranoid about Siri to the homeless wearing tinfoil hats; trust in our modern day society has been more complicated than ever.
It makes the Average American almost Alien to the foreign world...
American Alien
I use to think aliens were cool. Until I remember they have a tendency to probe and invade.
That's how I feel about the American Government.
No-I don't think they're literal lizard people like some Joe Rogan fans like to believe but more... inhumane. If we turn the page in our history book we would find that America has always been a system built on the oppression and colonialism of indigenous people. In the past, Civil Wars made it easier to see the discrimination and corruption before our eyes but now we get doses of the problems from the comfort of our phones while we sit and twiddle our fingers.
Americans think posting and complaining about these problems on the internet adds or changes the opinion of other but truly it's only a echo chamber and a digital facade. I honestly don't think that my post will make any more of a difference but that's the exact point about this digital wasteland. No longer do people buy books or read news paper they instead prefer to watch and listen and honestly I don't blame them.
The main issue is the power of influence that unfortunately comes from watching this amount of television. No longer is internet culture a separate entity from America but now the embodiment of American Culture.
Gooners
Pranksters
Clout Chasers
The poster boys of American Degeneracy.
It drives the average person insane to watch these videos and to not feel hopeless.
It makes me wonder...
Are we watching this for entertainment or being desensitized to the cruelty of our reality?
Reflection
Let's be honest I don't gotta explain to you how to change because deep down we know we have a choice. Truthfully with all these drugs and the endless pleasures of social Media I don't see a way of this ending peacefully. But like all things it has to start at home. If you have a loved one talk to them.
Attend to the lessons and values of their history. People can find their biggest problems at home or in their principles. I know Therapy is hard to come by these days. Fortunately, that's the digital double edge sword; the information is always there and can help.
Hell! You could text me. XD
But to wrap this gonzo piece I believe we can change.
All it takes is community not alienation.
